Exile Date Notes the PCBE date the beginning of his exile to 441 (after 18/08), but the PLRE and others date it to 443. Some sources claim he stayed in Kotiaeion until his death, but this is overturned by the Life of Daniel the Stylite.

Activities in Exile

Activities Related to Doctrine mentions the Muses in his poem, gives Christmas sermon in 443, in which he says that the birth of Christ should be honoured through silence. This is usually interpreted as a consideration to the local community that is sympathetic to paganism. It has been speculated that Cyrus established the cult of Menas in Kotiaeion (see PBCE article)
