Notes Paulinus' places of exile are inferred from Hilarius of Poitiers, In Constantium 11 (SC 334:190), who mentions that he was relegated from the cave of Montanus (in Phrygia) to an unnamed region 'outside of the Christian name' Ipsum usque ad mortem demutasti exiliis et fatigasti, extra Christianum quoque nomen relegasti, ne panem aut de horreo tuo sumeret aut de Montani Maximillaeque antro profanatum expectaret.
